Sailing in the Algarve - Portugal

Learn to sail in the perfect environment, consistent winds, sunny weather and a breathtaking coastline dotted with modern marinas, all this capped with spacious, high performance sail boats on which you learn, make sailing an exhilarating and most enjoyable experience in the Algarve.

When I first arrived in the Algarve, sailing to me was a bit like playing golf or maybe even polo, just something I never thought I would firstly ever even try let alone come to love.
Coming from a surfing background I thought the 'water' connection would be a natural thing but in my time here in Lagos I have come across a number of sailors that can't even swim??? How odd?

Anyway, I was cast into sailing when asked to do a days film shoot for a Dutch commercial, we had a bit of time on our hands and the skipper thought it would be fun to do a bit of sailing whilst floating about waiting for our cue. Well it snowballed from there, finding myself crewing 39ft boats. All this time however not really knowing what I was doing when told to 'pull the red rope'.
So I got myself on a course with the local sailing school and spent a week on-board with Kendall, the owner of Three monkeys bar in Lagos and proceeded to learn the ins & outs, jibes and tacks and basics of navigation.
Now when I sail, I'm not just enjoying the beautiful scenery along our coast but actually - well, sailing!

If you have' t sailed before at least come try it with us. You get taught what to look out for, we'll get you at the helm to do a bit of steering, raising some sails, learning about the wind and how to set the correct trim. All this with awesome weather and if you are coming to do a course it need not be back home in the cold. Lagos marina as well as Portimoa, Albufeira and Vilamora are all awesome marina's that you will stop off at whilst learning from some of the best skippers in the Algarve.

If you don't fancy learning to sail why not have a birthday party, stag or hen do or just come chill with your partner on a romantic cruise or even get engaged on one like I did!!!

I promise you'll love it and who knows you might even want to buy your own boat afterwards.
